Data Dashboard – Civil Summonses

The Misdemeanor Justice Project (MJP) Data Dashboard provides a snapshot of civil summonses issued in New York City between June 13, 2017 and December 31, 2017. The dashboard allows visitors to visually track trends in civil summonses with data provided by the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH). Users are able to filter the civil summons data by borough of issuance, and the sex and age of the summons recipient.

Civil summonses can be paid before the scheduled hearing date by telephone, online, or mail. An individual recipient of a civil summons can also contest the summons by appearing (in-person or remotely) at OATH.

The MJP Data Dashboard includes the following:

  • Number of civil summonses
  • Agency issuing the civil summons
  • Civil summons charge
  • Characteristics of recipient (sex and age)
  • Decision
  • Default status (open and resolved)
  • Docketed status
