Megan Welsh

Research Consultant

Megan Welsh is an Assistant Professor in the School of Public Affairs at San Diego State University, where she teaches a variety of research methods courses. She completed her PhD in Criminal Justice at John Jay/The CUNY Grad Center, and also has degrees in social work from Temple University and UC Berkeley. With Carla Barrett at John Jay, she recently completed a qualitative examination of misdemeanor policing in New York City, which included interviews with retired NYPD officers as well as focus groups with residents neighborhoods with high levels of police contact. Megan also conducts research on issues related to prisoner reentry and homelessness.
